Pocket Door Frame Kit Selector

Narrow your frame-kit choices before you order. Enter your panel measurements, wall framing, and preferred operation to see matching listed kit options and a project checklist.

Use the actual door panel size. A frame kit's door-size designation is different from its rough opening. The options below are checked against listed panel sizes and published weight limits. Final installation fit and current availability must be confirmed on the product page.

Tell us about your project

Enter inches as decimals: 1.75 means 1 3/4 inches. Dimensions and weight refer to each panel, not the combined double-door opening.

For unequal panels, enter one panel's details; both panels will need individual review.
Use the framing designation, not the finished drywall-to-drywall measurement.
Enter 1.375 for 1 3/8 inches, or 2.25 for 2 1/4 inches.
Include attached hardware. Get the weight from the door supplier; do not estimate it from dimensions alone.
Accessory weight and panel-width limits may differ from the roller rating.

Understand the three starting categories

  • Standard pocket door frame kits: a starting category for conventional projects, with published roller capacity up to 250 pounds per panel.
  • Frame kits with extra studs: consider these when more support within the pocket wall is desired. Extra studs do not increase the published 250-pound roller capacity.
  • Premium Series frame kits: explore the I-beam system for heavier panels or a premium-system preference. The category lists 400-pound roller capacity and panel thicknesses from 1 3/8 to 2 1/4 inches; confirm which thickness works with your selected wall and kit.

Check closing accessories separately

Standard and extra-stud categories list soft-close/soft-open operation for panels from 70 to 220 pounds, and EZ Closer capacity up to 170 pounds. Premium lists a minimum panel weight of 80 pounds and soft-close/soft-open capacity up to 330 pounds. These category figures do not replace the chosen accessory's specifications.

A heavier-rated roller does not make every closing device suitable for the same load. Verify panel width, weight, and the exact accessory combination. Premium EZ Closer combinations appear separately for individual confirmation. Where a product page gives a lower limit than its category, the lower limit is used.

Before you place an order

  1. Confirm the panel. Record its finished width, height, thickness, and weight.
  2. Confirm the wall. Match the frame to the construction and keep the pocket travel area free of obstructions.
  3. Check the opening. Use the selected kit's installation drawing, including its floor reference and height clearances.
  4. Review the complete package. For double doors, check both panels and the converging components. Verify guides, stops, and closing accessories.

Selection guidance is based on the linked HBP category specifications reviewed September 9, 2026. Product options can change; the selected product's current instructions govern.
